SELF TRUST * AWARENESS * RETURN TO SELF

Once You Have Seen the Pattern,

It Cannot Be Unseen

A journey from awareness to freedom

The moment you see the pattern, something shifts.

You can no longer pretend you don’t see it.

And in that moment a choice appears.

There comes a moment on every healing journey where something shifts.
Not because you learned something new.
Not because someone gave you the answer.
But because you suddenly see what has been there all along…

A pattern.
A loop.
A way of moving through life that once felt normal.

Until it didn’t.

The pattern we don't see

For me, one of the first patterns I truly saw was how often I bent myself to belong.

How often I adapted.

How often I made choices, not because they felt true for me, but because somewhere inside I believed they would make me more acceptable, more lovable, more worthy of being included.

At the time, I didn’t see it as a pattern.
I saw it as life.
I saw it as who I was.
I saw it as the way things were done.
“That is what makes patterns so powerful. They rarely announce themselves.
They weave themselves so deeply into our identity that we mistake them for truth.”

Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

One day something happens. A relationship. A conversation.
A repeated experience. A moment of clarity.

And suddenly you see it. Not intellectually. Not as an idea.

But as something woven through your life.

The same wound. The same reaction. The same choice.
The same way of abandoning yourself.

And once you see it, something changes.
Because now you know.
And once you know, you cannot unknow.

That is the part people don’t often speak about.
Awareness is celebrated. We talk about breakthroughs.
We talk about healing. We talk about finally seeing clearly.

But very few people talk about what happens next.
The grief. The discomfort. The responsibility.

The hardest part

Choosing differently can be confronting…especially when the pattern has shaped so much of your life.

Because if you’ve spent years adapting to belong, then adapting feels safe.
It feels familiar. It feels true.

And choosing differently can feel terrifying.
You begin looking at relationships differently.
Friendships differently. Family dynamics differently.

Even the relationship you have with yourself begins to change.
You start seeing where you have abandoned yourself.
Where you have silenced yourself.
Where you have overridden what you knew to be true.

Not because you were weak. Not because you were broken.
But because those patterns once helped you survive. And this is important.

The goal is not to shame yourself for the pattern. The goal is to understand it.
To see how it served you. To see how it protected you.

And then to gently acknowledge where it no longer serves the life you are trying to create.
Because seeing a pattern is not the same as immediately changing it.

Catching yourself in the pattern

There will be moments where you catch yourself doing it again, moments where you hear yourself saying yes when your body is saying no.

Moments where you find yourself…shrinking. Adapting. Overgiving.
People pleasing. Seeking approval.
Choosing familiarity over truth.

And when that happens, it can feel frustrating, but something fundamental has changed.
You are no longer unconscious. You are no longer asleep inside the pattern.
You see it.

And that awareness creates possibility...

Not perfection. Possibility.
A pause. A breath.

A moment where you can say “There it is.”

And in that moment, a new choice becomes available. That is where healing begins, not when the pattern disappears but when you stop unconsciously participating in it.

What changes internally?

The greatest gift that came from seeing my own patterns was not freedom from them overnight.
It was trust. Trust in myself. Trust in what I was seeing.
Trust in what I was experiencing. Trust in my body’s wisdom. Trust in my own knowing.

The need to keep arguing with reality began to soften. The need to keep explaining away what I felt began to soften.

The need to keep abandoning myself began to soften because the mask had fallen.
The illusion had fallen. The truth was visible.
And once the truth is visible, there is something incredibly liberating about no longer pretending otherwise.
pattern 3

It is the ability to move through the world as yourself rather than

as the version of yourself you created to survive.

And perhaps most importantly, it is a return…
A return to your voice. A return to your truth. A return to your body.
A return to the parts of yourself that were always there beneath the conditioning.

Once you have seen the pattern, it cannot be unseen.
At first, that can feel uncomfortable, even painful but eventually you realise something beautiful.

The pattern was never revealed to punish you, it was revealed to free you.

Awareness is not the end of the journey at all, it is the moment your journey home truly begins.
